We took our busy 2013 Nissan NV200 to the dealer for its 22,500-mile manufacturer-suggested service for an oil change and tire rotation -- and got a passenger airbag recall notice too.
We were informed that our van had a recall notice (Recall ID #102500) to update the occupant classification system (OCS) software for the front passenger seat.
According to Nissan, the OCS software may incorrectly think that the passenger seat (when occupied by adult) was empty, causing it to deactivate the passenger airbag, which could increase the risk of injury to the passenger during a crash.
Nissan fixed this issue with a software update that took only a few minutes. For its third service, we walked out the door for a grand total of $58.
